holy watch
i bought five of these saturday wailing at a church rummage sale. they came with all the papers of authenticity. i paid 65 dollars for each care for and did a quick sale at a pawn shop for $1950.00 and kept one for myself. i love this watch it is luxurious and i really like the way the adjustment knob is embedded into the body of the watch. not too long ago i bought some rolex watches at a swap gather for 150 bucks each and made a huge profit and if i compare this cartier with a $50,000.00 rolex the cartier at a fraction of that guerdon wins with quality, appearance and price. its in a class of its own.

There are two reasons often dedicated for this tradition. The first (and likely apocryphal) is that "IV" is a representation for "Ivpiter", or Jupiter, the supreme Roman god, and that population were afraid to invoke his name on timepieces.The real reason is aesthetics: watchmakers want to keep an approximate vertical orderliness in symbol width, and "IIII" is at better parity with "VIII" than "IV".As for "correctness" of IV versus IIII, Roman numerals weren't standardized until lengthy after the ancient Romans. Use of forms like "IIII" and "IIX" (for 8) and "IC" (for 99) was fairly low-class and, at times, preferred. It's a modern convention that there's only "one correct way" to write Roman numerals.

Imprecise Numbering
I almost bought this watch over for my fiance, but I realized suddenly that the Roman numerals were wrong. The four should be IV, not IIII. It saddens me that such a steep watch could have such a sorrowful mistake.

I got this keep safe from Amazon as a gift from my husband a few months ago. Last month, we found that there was a $300-400 problem with the circuitry. Our notice of store told us to have the repair fixed under the warranty. I called Amazon with the gift delivery in hand but I did not have the exact price so they refused to honor the warranty. I don't know how you can have the exact expenditure if you get the watch as a gift. My husband found his original receipt but Amazon refused to honor the agreement when he called with all the required information. He just got the run around on line in India for 20 minutes . It is not significance it. Buy from an authorized dealer.

A terrific inspect, but....
The Cartier Must 21 is a profound looking watch with one MAJOR problem that you need to know about before you buy one...The black rubber circumspect band is pure rubbish and will begin to crack very quickly. After 3 years, my watch group completely snapped off. This would not be that big of a deal if Cartier didn't charge $400 DOLLARS for a replacement body! Doing a quick search on the web will tell you that this is not an uncommon problem.Now, if you are spending over $3k on a watch then tumbling $400 every few years on a new band might not be that big of a deal to you...but you should know what you are getting yourself into.
